Texas Stonewall Democrats Endorse Chairman Kendall Scudder and Vice Chair Shay Wyrick-Cathey for Re-Election

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Texas Stonewall Democrats, the LGBTQ+ Caucus of the Texas Democratic Party, has spent decades advocating for the rights, representation, and political empowerment of LGBTQ+ Texans. The caucus has worked to ensure LGBTQ+ voices have a seat at the table, supported the election of LGBTQ+ candidates and allies, and strengthened grassroots organizing efforts across the state.

It is in that spirit that Texas Stonewall Democrats announce the unanimous endorsement of Texas Democratic Party Chairman Kendall Scudder and Vice Chair Shay Wyrick-Cathey for re-election.

“Under Chairman Scudder’s leadership, the Texas Democratic Party has launched its first-ever $30 million coordinated campaign, ensured that every State House and State Senate race is contested, decentralized party operations by opening offices across the state, and eliminated more than half a million dollars in debt inherited from the previous administration,” said Robert Vargas III, President of Texas Stonewall Democrats.

“Chairman Scudder, alongside Vice Chair Wyrick-Cathey, is ushering in a new era in Texas politics, one in which Democrats are truly positioned to serve as a strong and credible opposition to a Republican Party that has held power in Texas for more than three decades,” Vargas added.

The board of directors and officers of Texas Stonewall Democrats are proud to be the first caucus to endorse both Chairman Scudder and Vice Chair Wyrick-Cathey for re-election. The caucus encourages delegates to the Texas Democratic Party Convention to support leadership focused on progress, inclusion, grassroots investment, and meaningful change by casting their votes to re-elect Chairman Kendall Scudder and Vice Chair Shay Wyrick-Cathey.
