Robert Vargas III is an LGBT+ activist from Bexar County, Texas. He is a native San Antonian, a fourth-generation Texan, and the son and grandson of migrant workers. Robert's deep-rooted faith and love for his community fuels his commitment to making the world around him a better place.

As an LGBT+ activist, Robert helped launch the San Antonio LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce, served on the board of San Antonio BEAT AIDS, and is a member of Stonewall Democrats of San Antonio. In 2021, the San Antonio LGBT Chamber of Commerce awarded Robert a Lifetime Achievement Award for his service to the community.

Professionally, Robert has been a marketing consultant for 18 years. His expertise spans political campaign management, strategic marketing, community relations, event management, and government affairs. He has worked with business owners, politicians, and non-profits to create strategies to help them accomplish their goals.

Robert has worked in various political roles and has served several elected officials in Bexar County, including Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, Judge Mary Lou Alvarez, Bexar County Democratic Party Chairwoman Monica Ramirez Alcántara, Constable Leticia Vazquez, and several others. In the 2024 Democratic Primary, Robert managed two county-wide campaigns in which both of his clients received over 70% of the vote in highly contested elections.

Professionally, Robert served in the 87th Legislative Session as Policy Advisor to State Representative Ray Lopez of Texas House - District 125, which encompasses the neighborhood in which Robert grew up.


Before joining the Office of Representative Lopez, Robert served Bexar County residents as the Intergovernmental Affairs and Constituent Services Liaison for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office under the administration of Sheriff Javier Salazar.​

Throughout his career, Robert has used strategic thinking combined with his political prowess to advance the cause of the LGBT+ community and to make the world around him a place that creates opportunities for everyone to live out American life as they see fit.
